Busiest week of current year at USPS facilities across the country

MERRIFIELD, Virginia – Everyone is on deck for the US Postal Service during one of the busiest shipping weeks of the year!

Bob Barnard of FOX 5 visited the Northern Virginia fulfillment and distribution center in Merrifield, Va. Where the work never stops.

APPROACH TO SHIPPING DEADLINES FOR FEDEX, UPS, USPS CUSTOMERS

Bob says two million letters and 200,000 packages will leave the facility just Friday. Local packages will be delivered in the morning and out of town mail will leave this evening.

Much of the process is automated, but staff are required for letters and packages that cannot be processed by machine.
