Anil Kumar, CR RPF conferred with Sarvottam Jeevan Rakshak Padak for his act of bravery

Anil Kumar, working as Constable with the staff of Railway Protection Force, Central Railway has been conferred with the prestigious Sarvottam Jeevan Rakshak Padak for his act of bravery. He was delegated to prevent and detect passenger belongings for theft at Thane station on 3.12.2019. At 10:29 p.m., he saw a mail/express train approaching platform 7 and a person struggling to get onto the platform from the tracks. Anil Kumar on duty at Platform No. 6, seeing the imminent danger, jumped onto the rails, lifted and placed the person on the platform in a split second. His timely act of saving the passenger’s life without caring about his own exemplified a pure display of courage and selflessness.

Anil Kumar is one of 6 people whose names have been approved by the Honorable President of India for the Sarvottam Jeevan Rakshak Padak. His act of bravery and the resulting reward made Central Railway proud.

The Jeevan Raksha Padak series of awards are given to a person for a meritorious act of human nature in saving a person’s life. The award is given in three categories namely Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak.

The award consisting of medal, certificate signed by Union Home Minister and monetary allowance will be handed over to Anil Kumar in due course by the respective Ministries/Organizations/State Governments to which the winner belongs.
